Role Purpose
SF recruitment are working with a fledgling business in the Tamworth area, who are looking for an experienced hands-on Logistics Manager to oversee and manage the entire flow of goods, from inbound spares to the final dispatch of finished products. This is a pivotal role that ensures the efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness of the supply chain. The successful candidate will be responsible for transport booking, managing the E-comm spares store, and leading a small team, all while maintaining excellent communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
Dimensions of the Role
- Plan and book all inbound and outbound transport, ensuring deliveries run smoothly and on time.
- Be the main point of contact for customers when confirming delivery bookings or arranging transport.
- Oversee the full goods in, goods out, and dispatch processes to ensure they run accurately and efficiently.
- Make sure all deliveries are correctly documented and meet legal and safety requirements.
- Take ownership of the E-commerce spares store, ensuring stock is accurate and orders are fulfilled promptly.
- Maintain effective picking, packing, and dispatch processes for all spare parts orders.
- Complete and delegate regular cycle counts and annual stocktakes to keep SAP Business One (SAP B1) records accurate.
- Oversee customer returns and work with Finance when credit notes are needed.
- Ensure all customer collections are processed and recorded correctly.
- Keep the warehouse clean, organised, and compliant with safety requirements.
- Lead, support and guide a team of 3 logistic operatives.
- Assign daily tasks, monitor progress, and maintain consistent working standards.
- Hold regular team meetings and one to ones, encouraging a positive, responsible, and improvement-focused team culture.
- Promote a safe, and well-organised working environment.
- Use MRP system for all logistics, stock, and order processing tasks.
- Build and review Power BI dashboards to monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as delivery performance, transport costs, and stock accuracy.
- Use data to help identify issues and opportunities for improving day-to-day operations.
- Lead daily or weekly Logistics Tier 1 meetings to review priorities and solve issues quickly.
- Work closely with Planning and Sales to support customer requirements and share delivery updates.
- Act as the main link between the logistics team and the wider business.
Knowledge
- Proven experience in logistics, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of transport, despatch, and goods in/out operations.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Good understanding of health and safety regulations in logistics.
- Proficiency in logistics software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
