Electrical Engineer
Nottinghamshire | Factory/Office Based (No Travel)
£45,000 - £55,000 + Bonus (flexible for strong experience)

Are you an Electrical Engineer who loves seeing your designs come to life on real industrial machinery? Looking for full technical ownership, the chance to innovate, and a stable environment where your work truly matters?

This is your opportunity to take the lead on electrical and PLC engineering for cutting-edge machines, built, commissioned and supported entirely under one roof. In this hands-on role, you'll lead commissioning, resolve complex faults, and drive new product innovations. You'll be the go-to electrical specialist across the full engineering lifecycle - from electrical design and new product development, through to commissioning and high-level fault resolution.

The Role

  • Lead electrical commissioning of new CNC laser and plasma machines
  • Diagnose and resolve electrical, CNC and motion-control faults
  • Sign off electrical functionality before machines ship to customers
  • Design electrical architectures and PLC-controlled motion systems
  • Specify drives, motors, sensors and cutting subsystems
  • Support prototype builds to validate new technology
  • Provide escalation support on complex PLC/electrical issues
  • Deliver structured guidance to empower the wider engineering team
  • Produce schematics, wiring diagrams and panel layouts
  • Ensure CE/UKCA/Machinery Directive compliance
  • Maintain BOMs, test plans and build documentation
  • PLC coding sits within this role, working daily with software engineers for seamless machine control and diagnostics

The Candidate

  • Degree in Electrical/Automation/Mechatronics or similar
  • Experience in CNC, special-purpose machines or industrial automation
  • Ability to write and modify PLC code (preferably Beckhoff)
  • Confident with motion systems & EtherCAT
  • Strong problem-solver with a focus on machine safety and quality
  • Advantageous: laser or plasma systems, G-code/CAM, robotics or pneumatics/hydraulics.

This is a business that reinvests heavily in its own engineering - constantly evolving, supporting customers. You’ll be working where real value is delivered! If you're a Senior Electrical Engineer seeking ownership in a growing business, or an experienced Engineer ready for that step up, this role will give you the influence, freedom and accountability you're looking for.
