SF Recruitment are recruiting a CAD designer to work for our established manufacturing business based in Tamworth. This will involve creating and managing high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings for manufacturing, assembly, and installation, ensuring all outputs are accurate, clear, and ready for production.

The role:
To deliver fast, accurate, and efficient 2D and 3D CAD design services using AutoCAD and SolidWorks, supporting both internal teams and external customers with high-quality technical drawings. Focused on meeting tight deadlines while maintaining design excellence, clear communication, and a solution-driven approach.

Dimensions of the role:
- Create and manage high-quality 2D and 3D CAD drawings for manufacturing, assembly, and installation, ensuring all outputs are accurate, clear, and ready for production.
- Interpret customer specifications and requirements promptly, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to confirm job details before design work begins.
- Work collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, and Production teams to ensure designs meet both commercial and technical expectations.
- Provide rapid design modifications and technical support during the customer order process, ensuring seamless aftercare and revisions when required.
- Maintain organised drawing libraries, CAD standards, and configuration control, ensuring consistency and version management.
- Assist with new product development and prototyping, offering practical input to help refine concepts into manufacturable solutions.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying ways to streamline the design process, reduce errors, and increase drawing efficiency.
- Participate in design risk assessments and feasibility studies, providing technical insights to support project delivery.
- Support colleagues by sharing best practices and, when required, mentoring junior designers or technicians.
- Ensure all design activities comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations, promoting proactive safety and quality standards.

Skills & expertise:
- Expert user of AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 2D and 3D design projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical design, manufacturing methods, and fabrication processes.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively and promptly with both internal teams and external clients.
- Fast and efficient approach to producing technical drawings without compromising accuracy.
- Highly organised and solution-focused, able to prioritise tasks and meet tight deadlines.
- Customer-oriented mindset, ensuring excellent service delivery and proactive support.
