The Analytics Team is dedicated to making data easily accessible and actionable for colleagues and clients. The Lead Analytics Specialist plays a pivotal role in this team, requiring a unique blend of technical proficiency, business acumen, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate excels in team development, collaborates cross-functionally, possesses advanced data analysis skills, and can effectively translate data insights into business actions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and guide a small team of analysts, overseeing the development and implementation of analytics solutions.
  • Conduct data analyses using SQL, Python/R (or demonstrate a willingness to acquire these skills).
  • Proficient in Excel, with familiarity in AWS, Quicksight, Power BI, or Tableau for creating impactful data visualizations and reports.
  • Collaborate closely with Data Engineering, Finance, and Operations departments to align analytics initiatives with broader organizational objectives.
  • Manage complex projects, ensuring deliverables are accomplished with excellence and on schedule.
  • Thrive in ambiguous environments, providing clear and concise data-driven insights even in uncertain situations.
  • Handle ad-hoc data analysis requests, such as evaluating the impact of labor turnover on performance and addressing other key business questions.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Skills:

    • Demonstrated experience in analytics or related fields.
    • Proven ability in coaching and developing a team.
    • Proficiency in SQL (basic to intermediate) and Excel.
    • Experience with AWS, Quicksight, Power BI, or Tableau.
    • Advantageous to have Python/R programming skills, with a willingness to learn if not already proficient.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to contextualize data and present complex information in an easily understandable format to diverse audiences.
    • Comfortable making informed decisions in ambiguous and rapidly changing business conditions.
    • Experience operating within a retail environment is advantageous.
    • Experience in a client-facing role is advantageous.
