The Professional Services team at SF Recruitment is seeking a Business Development Manager to join a well-established and growing business in Bedford.

This role will closely collaborate with the Sales & Marketing Director in a business environment where sales are intricate, involve numerous stakeholders, and demand input from various sources.

The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in fostering business expansion by generating leads, exploring new markets, and nurturing relationships with target businesses. Proficiency in CRM systems, a solid grasp of commercial principles, and exceptional communication abilities are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Effectively use CRM system (HubSpot) and other internal platforms to manage and monitor leads, opportunities, and customer interactions, ensuring all project and client records are up to date.
  • Conduct research to identify fresh market opportunities and devise effective strategies for approaching them.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of sales & marketing campaigns aimed at acquiring new business.
  • Promptly follow up on leads generated through campaigns and maintain regular communication with identified ideal target businesses.
  • Craft engaging presentations for proposals and sales decks using PowerPoint or Keynote.
  • Collaborate with external resources such as marketing agencies and third-party suppliers, maintaining strong relationships with them.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices, continuously developing commercial understanding.
  • Assist in quoting projects by coordinating with multiple suppliers, internal stakeholders, and operational support teams, addressing specific requirements such as stock needs.
  • Provide insights and feedback to the Sales & Marketing Director to enhance sales strategies and overall business performance.


  • Demonstrated experience in business development, sales, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, preferably HubSpot.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct effective market research.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Experience in project coordination and managing multifaceted tasks involving multiple stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in PowerPoint or Keynote for creating presentations; familiarity with Canva is a bonus.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the capacity to build and sustain relationships with external partners and suppliers.
