Finance Manager - Group Environment

SF Recruitment are pleased to be working in exclusive partnership with a leading specialist manufacturer based in South Derbyshire in their recruitment of a Management Accountant.

About the organisation

My client are the dominant player within their industry. A Private-Equity backed organisation, they boast a global reach for their products and have demonstrated consistent growth, both organically and through investment and acquisition.
With strong financial backing, the organisation have already completed on a number of acquisitions this financial year with several on the horizon for 2024. This is an exciting time to be joining this fast-paced organisation, working as part of a collaborative and talented group finance team.

About the role

This is an opportunity to join the organsation in an interesting and dynamic statutory and management accounting capacity, including ownerhsip and management of the Group Head Office accounts.

You'll take a 'hands on' approach to the role, responsible for the management and some statutory accounts of the business unit and the Group Head Office and will report directly to the the Finance Director.

Key duties and responsibilities include:

Banking
- Ongoing review of company bank balances
- Electronic bank payments
- Bank Reconciliations
- Responsible for ensuring bank mandates are up to date and liaising with bank on approval / authorisation matters

BookKeeping, Management Accounts and Month End
- Maintenance of Cash Book, Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger, Fixed Asset Register
- Supplier Statement Reconciliations and issuing Customer Statements
- Credit Control and management of Overdue Debts
- Preparation of trial balance at month end ensuring all appropriate profit & loss and balance sheet reconciliations are performed including accruals and prepayments
- Monitoring & analysis of overhead spend against Budget and Prior Year
- Preparation and posting of the monthly salary journal
- Assisting with variance analysis and preparation of month end results presentations for senior management

Vat Returns
- Preparation of Vat Returns and supporting information

Budget & Forecasting
- Delivery of the annual Budget and Reforecasting process

Audit
- Management of the audit process for the UK and Head Office entities

Cash Forecasting
- Delivery of a 13 week Cash flow forecast
- Collate and consolidate Cash Forecasts for the Group

Other
- Delivery of a Weekly Flash performance report for the business unit.
- Calculate and invoice intercompany management recharges across the Group and reconciliation of intercompany balances
- Processing of expense claims
- Administration of payroll taxes, new joiners/leavers and pension contributions
- Administration corporate of health care scheme and life insurance policies
- Ad hoc assignments where required
- Assist with year end statutory accounts

 

About you

Interest from individuals who are either ACA OR ACCA qualified will have the ideal background for this role.

You will have a keen eye for detail and strong communication skills given the role involves exposure to multiple departments and senior stakeholders in the Group. You will be an enthusiastic, passionate and energetic individual who is happy to roll their sleeves up and help get the job done. 

SAP experience would be an advantage but not a mandatory requirement with training available where necessary.

Essential Criteria
- Sound working knowledge of double entry book-keeping
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Experience of maintaining accounts on an ERP
- Working knowledge of excel
- Organised and efficient at prioritising tasks effectively
- Attention to detail
